Trust, Quality, and Craftsmanship — The Texas Way

How We Got Started

Tekoa Builders was started in 2011 by Wade Kessler, a Tyler-area framing contractor who was tired of watching jobs slip because of poor coordination between trades. What began as a two-truck framing crew doing small commercial jobs has grown into a full general contracting company — still self-performing framing, drywall, and MEP on every job we run.

We've built our reputation on showing up when we say we will and not padding change orders. Most of our work has come from repeat clients and referrals across Smith County and the surrounding counties.

Our Approach

Self-Perform First

Concrete, carpentry, and sitework are handled by our own crews on nearly every project, which keeps schedules tighter and costs predictable.

One Point of Contact

Owners deal with one project manager from bid to closeout — not a rotating cast of subs and superintendents.

Straight Numbers

We price it right the first time. Our clients tell us they don't get surprised by change orders on a Tekoa job.

Where We're Headed

In 2026 we were awarded our largest project to date — a project with more moving parts than anything we've self-performed before. We're a construction company at heart, not a design firm, so we're bringing in outside coordination help where it makes sense rather than guessing our way through it. That's new territory for us, and we're doing it the same way we do everything else: ask good questions, hire people who know more than we do about that one piece, and keep the job on schedule.
